Album Review

It's late 2011 and 4 years since ERASURE released their last album 'Light At The End Of The World'. Beginning of 2009 Vince and Andy entered the studio to start working on material for a new album, eventually titled 'Tomorrow's World'. The album's set for release on this Friday and we're going to look into it a little closer now. The album starts with 'Be With You', opening with a compound of fluffy melodies leading to soft dancing beat Andy's outstanding vocals are soaring over. Also the track's coming up with the first of many memorable choruses. 'Fill Us With Fire' feels like an offspring of 80s disco music transported right into today's world. Nothing new or extraordinary except the vocals. 'What Will I Say When You're Gone' is the first time the album's keeping it a little more quiet. The slow song's giving Andy more room to unfold and the subtly ambient backdrop supports his timbre well.

'You've Got To Save Me Right Me' is a blues and groove-laden little piece of music that, If I would have been in charge, would have become a longer track. 'A Whole Lotta Love Run Riot' is a no-go for me, mostly because Andy's vocals being processed with those unnerving auto-tune effects. 'When I Start To (Break It All Down)' was picked for being the first single. It doesn't rely on any sort of hip dance beat but an arsenal of vintage sounds accompanying Andy on his way up to the anthemic peak of the song. The track to end the album is named 'Just When I Thought It Was Ending'. For most of its duration it remains quietly melancholic with the beats subtly bubbling along at the bottom ending in a highly emotive chorus.

I'd like to be honest. There won't be any innovation prize going to 'Tomorrow's World'. The mix of modern and vintage sounds in songs has been exhibited by many bands before. The way it's done gives the album's sound a timeless quality though, and some of the songs indeed could become classics. The songs however mostly benefit of Bell's vocals, except for 'A Whole Lotta Love Run Riot'. Seriously, auto-tune for a voice like that?. Well, the bottom line is that if you're looking for innovations you won't find pleasure in this record, but if you prefer a good synth pop record, yo should take a listen.
