Album Review

Friends and fans of MINISTRY are well aware who is behind BUCK SATAN & THE 666 SHOOTERS. Of course, it’s another project from mastermind and founder of MINISTRY: Al Jourgensen. This time, as an ode to his own hero Buck Owens, he wanted to create a country release - but, as usual in his very own way. Accompanied by several other well-known musicians of metal/rock genre like Rick Nielsen (CHEAP TRICK), Tony Campos (STATIC-X) and Mike Scaccia (RIGOR MORTIS), Al Jourgensen delivers an album that is caught between two stools. On the one hand it’s an old fashioned, almost cheesy country release, on the other it’s that typical “Jourgensen-sound” one expects from the so called “godfather of industrial metal”. And there’s the rub… somehow the song are pretty cool, but there are moments one cannot be sure, whether the whole release is a huge fuss or an ode from the bottom of Jourgensen’s heart. However, ‘Bikers Welcome! Ladies Drink Free’ is a entertaining and pleasingly release that “causes no harm”. But I’m not pretty sure, if I’m going to listen to it on parties solely or not - of course, it’s a must have for MINISTRY maniacs and Jourgensen fans, all others should try out!
