Album Review

DARK SUNS formed in 1997 and have several singles and have four full-lengths under their belt. Their newest, released the December past is titled as ‘Orange’. Their combination of styles is interesting and intriguing - Jazz, Prog-rock, Metal - come as the main three components. They’re less psychedelic than THE MARS VOLTA but they come to mind when thinking of comparable sound. They’re not for a quick and hurried listen, but listeners have to have time, mood and allow themselves to be able to pay attention to details. And even though it’s challenging, and where it concerns Metal (especially within the first few songs - ‘Toy’, ‘Eight Quiet Minutes’) being in the melting pot of the sound, energising, it’s not disallowing for one to be able to relax to it as well as is most evident with the instrumental ‘Not Enough Fingers’. A stimulating album.
