Album Review

A treat emerged for aficionados of the more classically shaped electronic genres, specifically the EBM genre with the teaser single 'Kreislauf' by the then newly founded due BHAMBHAMBARA who coupled those ingredients with a modern edge and the credo not to overwhelm their target listeners with two much content. While that is surely sounding a bit offending, the devil is as always hidden in the details and as such won't jump you in the face except you're looking for him very attentively. The trick is not looking for what's being said, but for what is not being said if that makes any sense to you out there. What I'm trying to say is, sometimes a few words or sentences per song can actually be enough if placed carefully and with words chosen wisely and for the purpose of triggering a chain of thought.

Just take the opening track 'Kreislauf' as a good example. With only a few words it offers a different perspective on life or what you'd call the thing you're doing day by day. 'Das Ziel' not even  employs any kind of real vocals. There's just the ever throbbing beat and then instructions sampled from a GPS navigation system. You don't know where to go? Someone knows the road you should take...forever. For 'Gebet', you should really prepare yourself. It's not danceable, it has eerie pads going through it and there's not even vocals there. If you can't handle that, it's best you skip it completely because how should you get what it's about and why should you use that thing called imagination. That's to challenging a task right?

That's actually the point of it all. The reason why 'Progressive Body Music' unfolds like it does. It does not feed you the same stuff over and over again. Yes, there are some common ingredients, but you shouldn't expect them to dominate the entire album or lasting as long as the song does. Just dare taking a risk, look beyond your usual perception of music and you will have quite a fun time with the record.
