Single Review

BLUTENGEL, the classic German Gothic Synth group that always amazes me with new and inspired works of high Gothic musical art like continuous brush strokes on an eternal painting. ‘Sing’ is a Gregorian like Gothic inspired hymn with sensually seductive beats that affect the soul. An emotionally haunting ballad that pulls at the dark heartstrings tethering at the abyss of lost love. A confession of a broken heart shattered into pieces praying for some type of redemption. The irony in ‘Sing’ might be bitterly dismal but very subtle. Mourning the passing of lost loves and friendships. Lamenting the dreams that that are left unrealised. This song demonstrates how love can be religiously inspired and how a broken heart walks the fragmented line into an internal hell. The video on YouTube is a real treat to watch with the background set in a cathedral: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqRXahtDX7o

‘Starkeeper’, the second song on the single release, inspires new hope lighting up the sky for a fallen soul. Keeping the starlight shining in utter darkness. A song of healing a broken heart. An ideal follow up to ‘Sing’. On the path to salvation. The MCD contains the title song plus two exclusive remixes (including an alchemusical interpretation from MEINHARD, who were supporting BLUTENGEL on their “Omen” tour in the spring of 2015) and the new song ‘Starkeeper’ in an exclusive single edit.
