diorama16Alte Seilerei, Mannheim, Germany
6th December 2014
SuperSchwarzes Mannheim with Diorama, Rummelsnuff, Blutjungs

Of course it was a strange combination. Three bands from different musical genres are going to play on that evening. On the other side, besides the great festivals, you can´t get a chance to see such different bands on the same stage. So it was interesting and we looked forward for how it will work.

Blutjungs

The funny boys from Aschaffenburg founded the band in 1996. They call their music “Splatterpop” and themselves still a punk rock band. Until now they released four albums. After some changing during the years the band is now set with Martin (singer), Tito (guitar), Angelo (bass) and Jan (drums). http://www.blutjungs.de / https://www.facebook.com/pages/Blutjungs/115036581842429

Music & Performance
It´s really funny, because they want to be a punk band and right from the beginning they forced the audience to slander them. They made bad jokes and Martin tried to enter the stage structure (he failed), but with all that they were pleasant and it seemed play-acted. Their music was a mixture between very old songs of DIE ÄRZTE and WIZO. All musicians did a very good job. The music even reminded at THE BATES. So you can discuss either their strange lyrics are typical for a punk band or if the lyrics destroy the positive impression of the band. Songs of butchers, dead cats, strange sex practices and stuff like that can be funny or disturbing. Some fans in the audience sang the whole time with them and danced. There was also a political song about Nazis.

Rummelsnuff

Roger Baptiste is a very fascinating person. The pseudonym RUMMELSNUFF is his solo-project since 2005, but he is a musician since his childhood. Now you can hardly imagine, but once he learned to play bassoon. He is also known for his work with “Freunde der italienischen Oper“, POLARKREIS 18, FETTES BROT and for his job as a bouncer in the club Berghain in Berlin. The club is well known all about Europe and he also took part in some works of the German photographer Sven Marquardt. In 2013 he released his last album ‘Kraftgewinn’. http://www.rummelsnuff.de / https://www.facebook.com/Rummelsnuff

Music & Performance
It´s hard to describe the presence of RUMMELSNUFF until you see him acting on stage. He is a convinced bodybuilder and very proud of his body. His music is a mixture between Electro and shanty. He also took old Traditionals and well known songs (like ‘The Partisan’). Since last year he gets support by the guest singer Maat Asbach (Christian Asbach). Asbach speaks eight foreign languages and has such an impressive voice, that the audience stood still and overwhelmed. The scope of his voice is an huge opposition to the deep and cold voice of RUMMELSNUFF himself, but while they are performing ‘Azzuro’ together, the whole audience danced and was happy. They played songs in German, French, Romanian, Italian and Russian. They like the style of sailors and everything is performed very heroic, but always with a sarcastic wink.

Diorama

The German electronic band started with very quiet and melancholic song, but developed their style during the years into more electronic dance songs with support by guitars and drums. Since their beginning in 1996 the band released eight albums. The last one ‘Even the Devil Doesn't Care’ came out in 2013. In Mannheim they announced the next one for 2015. Two band members are also very well known for their membership in DIARY OF DREAMS (Torben Wendt) and FROZEN PLASMA (Felix Marc). Due to other commitments, Felix Marc didn´t join the concert in Mannheim. Helge Wiegand took his part at the keyboard and also sang the backing vocals. http://www.diorama-music.com / https://www.facebook.com/pages/Diorama/20921056622

Music & Performance
Torben Wendt is always very present on stage when he is performing with DIORAMA. He is dancing, acting and doing very different facial expressions. Between the songs he expresses his thanks to Sash Fiddler (guitar) and Marquess (drums) for their friendship and musical partnership during the last years. All musicians did a good job and although the Alte Seilerei wasn´t filled to the edge there was a very good mood. The audience danced and sang nearly all the songs. Of course they liked ‘Erase Me’ and ‘Synthesize Me’ the most. Unfortunately there was no ballad played this evening, but with all the dancing the fans were very good prepared for the following party night at the SuperSchwarzes Mannheim where all bands were also seen in the crowd.
