At the moment Delain is one of the most successful gothic bands from the Netherlands. They have a lot of shows this summer, also this raining day at Torenpop! The new single is coming out very soon.

Torenpop is a free festival in the middle of Amersfoort. This year was the 13th edition of this festival. The festival is organized by ‘de Kelder’, the catering industry around the square and a lot of volunteers. At the moment Delain is one of the most successful gothic bands from the Netherlands. They have a lot of shows this summer, also this raining day at Torenpop! The new video clip and single 'See me in Shadow' is coming out very soon.

Music
The first thing that stood out was the good mix for an outdoor festival. The sound was great and not too loud. The music sounds better at a dark indoor stage, but the sphere was okay. Charlotte's voice was in great shape and very strong. The guitar and bass riffs were very good but the guitar solo at Frozen wasn't flowing. The drums and keys were very good in balance. Musically the performance is great but it will never be like the album.

Performance
First I want to say something about the clothes. They grown as a live band and also the clothes are much better every time, but it can better for some band members. Charlotte has grown as a performer, but she can definitely grow more. The movements are very small on stage. Their guitarists all have fun together, but it's a little bit practised. Headbanging on commando during the show is always and every show the same. The entire band makes contact with the audience and they are part of the show. The lights were good, but it was an outdoor festival and you can't see the lights very well. It's a pity that the founder from this project is standing in the back of the stage. He's very good and he can be more at the front of the stage.
