After forever and Nemesea

Nemesea

I have seen Nemesea perform for about 3 or 4 times now. I got their album a week before this show and was really curious how it would be to see them perform again, after hearing the album. Well I have to say, I liked it.

Music

Nemesea uses fast beats that remind me of After Forever but I find their music to be more bombastic. Manda has a beautiful voice though it is still a bit thin, not as solid as it could be. The musicians come from the conservatory and it shows, they play great solid music. The sound of the show was well balanced, no comments there.

Performance
During their performance I thought Manda was holding back, she had more to give. During very emotional parts she unfortunately stayed a bit cool. Apart from that it was a good show. The audience was very enthusiastic even though the venue wasn't that full at the time. Manda is a real eye catcher on stage because of her beautiful long hair but I do think she could pay some more attention to her clothes. A tighter top and better fitting pants would be a great improvement. The light during the show was quite dark. Thinking of the concert now I mostly remember the stage to be bathing in blue and green light.

After forever

I hadn't seen After Forever for a long time, I had seen them so many times the urgency to go see them again had disappeared. This night I was very curious to see what I had been missing.

Music

The sound was fantastic. After Forever was one front of thundering metal and they blew me away. When playing emotional songs like ‘eccentric' Floor made me get goose bumps all over. Her voice was in great shape, very strong and still she was able to sound extremely fragile during the emotional songs.

Performance

The venue had filled up by the time After Forever hit the stage.
Floor entered the stage and immediately she draws the attention, she is a very strong and present leading lady. The interaction between her and the band was great you can see they are tuned in to each other. The light was beautiful, especially the lasers that were used. These lasers took all kinds of shapes and colours and gave a great extra dimension to the light.
Due to their strong and overwhelming performance even the encore wasn't enough, the audience wanted more and they got it. The last song of their performance was dedicated to Lola, the newly born daughter of their tour manager.
