Deine Lakaien

When I arrived at the Casino Kammgarn in Kaiserslautern, a beautiful industrial hall with a special flair, about 500 goths were waiting in front of the stage for the dark-wave band Deine Lakaien that stopped by for their ‘April Skies’ tour 2005 in Kaiserslautern.

Music
At the beginning 5 black figures entering the stage chased by the powerful voice of singer Alexander Veljanov who finally enters at the end of the first song “Falling” before they played their new single “Over and done”. Mastermind Ernst Horn plays the synthesizers and pianos that break like a heartbeat through the dark. On stage was also a band (2 violins, 1 cello and 1 guitarist). The sound was good as usual in Kammgarn. Deine Lakaien presented a beautiful mixture of brand new and old songs – acoustic sounds changed with electro beats. As the final encore they played their hit “Love me to the end” to finish their personal created sound-scape ignoring the borders set by genres and cultures.

Performance
A mystical ambience, a stage covered by fog, the appearance of Ernst and Veljanov created a special feeling. The lightshow was adapted to the songs and let the stage drown in dark colours. Dancing or partying was hard because of the hard-to-listen songs of Deine Lakaien. But the musicians played a very good show with a lot of dark power. Especially the beautiful voice of Alexander Veljanov and the pounding sounds of Horn’s synths and pianos made the audience listening.
