Emilie Autumn

Ready from the tender age of 4 years, she‘s been trained to be concert violinist, composer and musical historian and at the age of 18, she already parted ways with her first label and released her violin debut ‘On a day…’ under the moniker of Traitor Records, the label she’s running to the present day. These can only be some little key points within the extraordinary and iridescent career of the creative individual that operates under the alias EMILIE AUTUMN. Her music and the prose she’s recorded until now breathe a special air, driven by the passion and devotion she’s putting into all she does, a spirit that hasn’t gotten an ounce weaker through all the time. Her newest release is a special re-issue of the album 'Opheliac', released on 12th February. http://www.emilieautumn.com/ / http://www.myspace.com/emilieautumn

Music & Performance
The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls is a strange place to visit, whereas visit in this case not necessarily means you'll get back home afterwards. It's a place where skulls are standing side by side with tea cups and it's the "home" of a group of ladies Emilie called "The Bloody Crumpets". Wait, Emilie said shelter, I'm terribly sorry for that mistake. Anyway, on this evening many of the plague rats came to visit EMILIE AUTUMN as another open day, including live performance was on schedule at the asylum. All the little plague rats would still have to wait after the lights went down and antique tunes sounded through the building.

A little eternity later a shadowy silhouette appeared and triggered endless joy for the now upcoming, which at first was the march in of the actresses in artful dresses. A whimsical theatrical play unfolded its continuous story. This story at many points involved the assistance of the audience, for instance during Victoria's recruitment call which resulted in one girl from the mass of plague rats being dragged on stage by one of the asylum wardens to get her included into the love army with a proper ceremony. Another example would be the sermon held by the Contessa with the audience. By all means the weirdest one I've heard in my life. In-between there's been lots and lots of intermezzos raising laughs all over, explaining better than anything why the girls have been locked away… ;)

Present but not always the main actor this evening was the music, mixing electronic arpeggios and classical music in an extraordinary way through the skills of EMILIE AUTUMN on violin and spinet, and her vocal strength. At times you were that much fascinated of the events on stage you completely forgot to make some notes. At some time around 2 hours later, the warden finally managed to get the entire crew back to where they belonged, after that didn't quite work out a couple times and the enthused plague rats were allowed to return to their homes... this time!
