EP Review

The recent release by IN STRICT CONFIDENCE was long awaited by the fans. And like a month before the release, Dennis intrigued with the of the Russian-German song announce. It isn’t something new, since ISC have already used once Russian language in the song ‘Spread Your Wings’. This time there is the whole chorus in Russian. The title song ‘Morpheus’ sounds pretty pop, especially the chorus. I even can imagine the song playing in the Russian radio or MTV. Although for some Russians there were troubles for the first time to recognize what exactly was sung, but with time or after reading the lyrics, you get used to it, and then the beauty of the song finally blossoms out. Quite lyrical, sweet, sad and desperate song tells a story of a person, who’s longing for sleep to forget the beloved one. It could be a poem by one of the Russian classics.

The rest of the EP is somehow boring. Just if you really want to hear five-six different versions of the same song, it could be interesting for you. The real problem is that the chorus is quite catchy and bright - it is hard enough to do something with it. It is possible to change the whole song into a club mix, or to make it more electronic or anything, it is almost impossible to do something with the chorus. You can try to slow it down or make it quicker; the main motif will stay the same and the song will sound always the same. And it’s like, it seems like finally there is something different plays, but then… no, here we go, the same stuff again. So it is hard to call the result of the work by HECQ, DIORAMA or HAUJOBB real remixes. In the extended and English versions there is a chorus also in English. The song ‘Salvation’, which looks like a yellow brick in the red wall, is pretty ISC-style and fans will surely appreciate it. In general the EP would be interesting maybe for DJs and people, who are interested in hearing the same song made by different bands.
