Album Review
There are a lot of bands searching for a new unique sound, they mix a lot of different stuff, add some elements of different genres. Although most of those experiments are banal, sometimes there are very good results. What a surprise it is, when you start to listen to a black metal song and suddenly medieval motifs are coming! LEMURIA is the mythical lost country. As the name two bands too. And two albums. But what I would like to mention in case of the black metal folk band, LEMURIA is also a country, continent or island, which has never been existing. It is as unbelievable as a mixture of black metal and folk. Oh wait…
LEMURIA started very good. They released their debut album ‘Tales, Ale & Fire’ two years after the fist demo came out. With this album the band has entered a circle of such acts as FINNTROLL, ENSIFERUM and BAL SAGOTH and got the opportunity to support KORPIKLAANI. However, 2006 the band quit. What could happen to such a successful band? What could go wrong? The only wrong decision the band took was to quit. Musicians needed about two years to realize it, and already 2008 the band was reincarnated with new guitarists.
The new concept album ‘Chanson De La Croisade’ appeared 2010 and is now also released in Germany. This is a magical mixture of heavy music, folk and orchestra. Like the sharpest knife growling together with rich guitars cuts peaceful magical light folk melodies. LEMURIA filled their record with passion, aggression and power. This music totally conquers your attention and you wake up just when the album comes to its end. But the only reason for waking up is to make the record play again.
