Welcome back to the 80´s! Well, that seems to be the device of Matt Springfield and his friends. According to his influences, ‘Erase All Data’ should sound like all the old Wave bands everyone should know: DEPECHE MODE, ULTRAVOX, ERASURE, CAMOUFLAGE etc. - and sometimes there is a glimpse of bands like THE KILLERS, U2, MUSE or COLDPLAY… Pretty high-ranking list of influences, right? Well, THAT´S the main reason why this release doesn’t work for me at all. Technically, ‘Erase All Data’ might be on a very high level, but somehow all of the songs are a little bit too perfect, too exaggerated. Matt Springfield and his musicians seems to be a little bit too ambitious to get on top of the charts. I’m pretty sure, there will be an audience these songs might work for… but in my opinion there’s a lack of placidness. Though I have to admit that those guys have a massive potential to write songs, on the other hand I have to criticize that the release miss a lot of chances…
