Single Review

MESH are back with a fantastic new single! The band already founded back in 1991 and is around for more than 20 years now. It is already four years ago, that the latest studio album, ‘A Perfect Solution’, was out. In the year following, MESH released a remix album and were touring. Now, the band announced a new album, ‘Automation Baby’, which will be released in March 2013. As a little foretaste, the band now serves the single ‘Born to Lie’. And what a great appetizer this is! Before the release, the band already spread some snippets promising big things, and played the song live during Pluswelt Festival (we reported) in December. Now, also a video clip along to the single is released.

The release contains five tracks, four versions of ‘Born to Lie’ and another new song, ‘Black Dog’. The single version is a catchy synth pop track, which already is very melodic and danceable. The club version shows a bit more pressure, just as it is needed for heavy club rotation. But still, the original character of the song remains. Besides those two versions, there are two remixes of the track. First we have the ‘Rotersand Re-Work‘ version, adding a few new playful elements to the track. The ‘Remix by Blitzmaschine’ slows the track a bit down but adds the band’s typical old-school EBM elements. Finally, the CDS contains the exclusive track ‘Black Dog’. This song is a bit calmer than the single with a great mood.

What’s left to say at the end? ‘Born to Lie’ is surely a great foretaste for the album coming next. Last but not least, the booklet of the CDS contains a QR-code giving access to some exclusive material, giving an extra insight into the new album.
