Album Review

MASSACRE are one of the fathers of the Florida Death Metal scene. With their debut album ‘From Beyond’ they released an immortal extreme Metal classic. But they did not continue this band, the members are playing in other legendary Death Metal bands like DEATH, OBITUARY and SIX FEET UNDER. Now after playing again on festival and releasing a new EP, they are back with a full long-player (also on vinyl for the old-school maniacs).

MASSACRE doing what all Death Metal lunatics hoped, an old-school Florida Death Metal Album which makes no experiments in new sounds - different like their not so popular 1996 release ‘Promise’. The new artwork is close to the old ‘From Beyond’ Ed Repka cover. The sound of the 13 songs plus one intro is very massive but not in the area of brutal Death or Deathcore, I think comparable with the newer AUTOPSY stuff. The lyrics are typical topics for this genre horror and fantasy stories.

Ed Webb’s vocals are really evil in a cool way with some perverted screams included. Some guitar parts even remind me to old SLAYER. There is no song in a special glory, they are all bloody meat hooks with their special flavour. A must have for Florida Death Metal maniacs and an advice for all fans of extreme Metal.
