Album Review
This collection represents the first Remix sampler of the still young label Körperschall Records which is marketed in cooperation with the Echozone label and comprises remix versions of tracks from the projects INDUSTRIEGEBIET and ELLIPSE both of which are brainchildren of Maximillian Wall, who’s also the label head of Körperschall Records. The direction of the compilation is clearly to drive the stake into the hearts of the clubs. Even so there still some variation in the tracks, that is, some are more melodic some are less or there are oscillations on the degree of harshness. Let’s go into detail with some of the tracks, so you’re getting a little insight what’s expecting you.
‘Im Takt E Maschinenmusik’ begins with quite a funny speech sample, then the industrial beats come in and sharp sequences drive the song forward. Casually some pads give the song atmosphere. Even though that before mentioned sample is funny in the beginning it’s getting tedious after hearing it over and over again during the track. The ACYLUM remix of ‘Sorge um Gott’ has a placid intro sequence with piano and strings in the back before the heavy bass drum kicks in and turns everything upside-down . If you want a negative example of this limitation o club music then I have one coming up next with the TIMO HÜBNER Remix of ‘Rein und Rausgehen’, which is far too monotonous and repetitive with only a few deviations coming in, in the form of additional effects. That probably is best suited for clubs, but at home it just deserves one rating: Boring. The SYMPTHIKUS remix of ‘Revolution is not dead’ sound-wise flows in a similar vain as bands like DAF do without reaching their quality in my opinion.
At the end of the day, this compilation is nothing more or nothing less (depending on the taste) than a new addition to the playlist of the scene DJs. I’m inclined to say that it’s the former one.
