Album Review
REVCO is the politically correct abbreviation of REVOLTING COCKS the band that was created when members of MINISTRY and FRONT 242 decided to join their forces back in 1983. The band - though Richard 23 and Luc van Acker are not its members anymore - has decided to work with Erie Loch, the front man of the BLOWNLOAD, in order to produce this CD full of remixes of their previous album ‘Got Cock?’. For the most part this CD is an electro-boring exercise of Alternative Rock performed with bureaucratic imagery. It seems that the whole project was a burden for Erie Loch something he didn’t fail to transmit to the audience.
Granted there are a couple of good moments here like ‘Piss Army’ or ‘Filthy Senoritas’ but even these are exhausted by the addition of x’s, something the band was keen to flood the place with. In other words even in their good/ danceable/ fun moments there is a sense of platitude, of self-manifestation that is more suitable for new and less qualified bands. “Trashy subjects” with “classy high-end production” (as the band describes it) remain trashy whatever their cover might be. Worse than that, the trashy kitsch-aria as a point of view belongs to the 80’s and was limited to the petite-bourgeois artists willing to sell sea plants for silk ribbons as a justification for their lack of artistic capabilities. The times have passed by and this CD belongs where the other “trashy” products belong in the first place; and the answer is not the CD player.
