Album Review
Organizers of Synth Pop parties and the fans of this genre must look forward to the brand new SUBSTAAT album ‘Macht’. Even if the band was founded in 2008, it became the classics and stays in the same raw with AND ONE and MESH. The album is opened with the powerful and exciting ‘Berlin’. And so the electronic vibrations spread all over the room filling it with cold but passionate melodies and rhythms. Although for those who does not consider themselves as big Synth Pop fans this album would be hardly noticeable. It will surely get lost in tons of other stuff. The band does really good job, but let’s be fair – Synth Pop could seem boring.
Even though the modern bands try hard to keep it alive, this music is old-fashion. However there are still people who would surely find those hits tense and interesting. To describe SUBSTAAT there are no words, but classics. The Norwegian musicians collected all the best traditions of the genre and created their sound. Their rhythmic and romantic songs as “I feed you my Love” would be pearls at every wave-party and remind die-hard fans on the good old days when boys had have Dave-Gahan-haircuts which no girl could resist.
