Album Review

Chris Pohl, former of TUMOR, SEELENKRANK, MISS CONSTRUCTION (Born from the ashes of TUMOR) and BLUTENGEL, released with TERMINAL CHOICE now another rock-industrial masterpiece. "We’re back! And we’re better than before!" If an artist goes about proclaiming such a statement on his latest album, they might be really sure of themselves. In the title track, massive dark Electro sounds and fat walls of riffs result in the type of full-frontal sonic attack that is TC’s trademark. They ARE back! And they ARE better than before! Metaphorical statements within their songs like “We have grown older” underline this. And in fact it’s already three years ago since their last release and they are still distinguishing from the “Hellectro scene” although their style (both optical and musical) very remains to be.

He recently released the CD ‘Soultaker’ with his band BLUTENGEL and now he already wants superiority in spite of souls. After so many successful releases with different bands he’s entitled to be heard. Chris Pohl is like to be a guarantee for good diversified music. This brand-new album isn’t just to be a dance-floor-filler - it conveys messages. ‘Bad Trippin’ for example is about the human addiction. That not might be compulsory drugs. No, many people are addicted and not realized that yet. In almost the same manner they miss other things - disregarding everything they are surrounded by. Almost the same intention you’ll find in the song ‘Fight the System’, keep your eyes open, be interested in circumstances which do or could affect your life. Only by having a certain overview you are able to change something or to create personal opinion.

‘I’m just a boy’ is a personal favourite by now, even because of the title and the fact that a man finally accepts the fact that the female beauty is stronger than men, although they are told to be the stronger gender, homage to the womanhood, out of the mouth from a male. Which rare glory! At least… The track ‘Bitch like you’ is quite contrary to this one. Here, Chris settles one’s accounts with maybe an ex-girlfriend. This song lets on about anger against women and is very disregardful. For me as a woman it is not cute. But everyone has got his own experiences and ways to treat on. No shame. To make love to someone is very close to be injured. Well, TERMINAL CHOICE could be seen as absorber for aggressions, always dominating their music with funny and ironical elements. The members know how to use that and make this accessible for the listeners. All together, this is a successful album. Have fun listening to their sonic slaughter...
