The collaboration of forensic biologist MARK BENECKE and musician SARA NOXX spilled over ‘Where the Wild Roses Grow’ single supported by the album of remixes entitled ‘Remixxed’. So the single version of the song in general could be called nice, if there was nothing to compare. But the original and already classic song performed by Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue exists and even if Noxx - Benecke duo managed to preserve the main melody of the composition, its beauty was almost ruined. The female vocals produce a great impression and definitely gain points for the track, but the male voice is too artificial and boring to impress and electronic noises coming through the whole song really irritate.
Unfortunately, these noises which seem to be some glimpse of creativity, repeat in the instrumental version however this time you can better estimate the music, the arrangement of the composition. As for the mixes presented on the CD, there is nothing to criticize: the club one is very danceable and surely meant for dance floors and the other one is just a qualitative version of the song, without extra noise when the music and the vocals are fully harmonized. Among remixes on ‘Remixxed’, I’d like to mark out a couple of tracks which stand out against a background. One of them is the opening piece creating somewhat dramatic atmosphere and the other powerful one by PEOPLE THEATRE.
Of course, the final compositions deserve an attention, at first because they are just a relief after the innumerable “wild roses” and besides the songs are interesting as well. Thus, I keep from any final conclusion so everyone could listen and decide for themselves.
