TRÜMMERFRAU, a duo of musicians flirting with various styles based around Dance/Electrohouse, Techno, electro-trash etc, have been around the scene since 2006, their music has been part of compilations and played by many DJ’s out there. Their first album ‘Musika Motteki’ was released in 2008 and now they’re coming out with the mouthful of ‘Geschmacksmusterverletzung’, earful too of course. The album is said to contain a booklet with short stories written about each of the songs. They pride themselves on combining their catchy techno/dance fusions with EBM, they’re surely there and make the songs more interesting and varied, give it more depth and darker feel.
Throughout there’s also a great use of samples, connecting the songs with what feels like a narrative. Though predominantly in German, one gets the feeling this music does have something to say unlike so many of the genre. You can actually enjoy yourself if you’re out and be able to enjoy it even at home. ‘Ode To Friendship’ is a complete surprise here too. A slow song, drawing out of their genres, it’s quite a wonderful. The ending might have been a bit of a letdown as its more electro feel seemed as it didn’t belong there, but on the other hand it ushers you back into the mainstream sound of the album. ‘Another Song’ was the favourite one of those. Great beat sequences, memorable refrains, very electro of the ‘80’s in many ways. Very catchy. I’ve enjoyed this album more than I anticipated, great tunes, interesting and varied.
