Steel Panther & Mia Klose

STEEL PANTHER, the self-proclaimed “hottest band out of Hollywood since Mötley Crüe, Guns ‘N Roses and Poison ruled the Sunset Strip” was touring again. The band of over-the-top hair metal revivalists has released a second album ‘Balls Out’ in 2011, thereby settling their name for good. Originally, the concert was scheduled for the bigger Hyde Park, but relocated to the Rosenhof, that turned out to be packed in the course of the evening. Many men were dressed like the band on stage with tight spandex pants, long-haired wigs and bandanas. Opener of the evening was MIA KLOSE from Sweden with her band.

Mia Klose

Mia started her musical life very early. Her first stage appearance was with an age of three, with five she was playing violin and started playing other instruments like drums and guitar. With thirteen she started singing lessons and started already her first band. After college, she moved from Stockholm to London. The debut album ‘London’ was out in August 2012. Through regular gigs, Mia established a strong fan base. 2013 saw her name on the bill of many festivals, including Sweden Rock Festival or Bloodstock. Already in March 2014, she and her band joined STEEL PANTHER for three UK shows. On stage, MIA KLOSE is supported by a fill band consisting of C-Rexx (bass), Jonny Nonsense (guitar), Kalle Arheden (guitar) and Henry Rogers (drums). Mia has previously been joined on stage by guitarist Jonny Scaramanga who also played for Europe’s ‘Kee Marcello’. http://www.miaklose.com / https://www.facebook.com/MiaKlose

Music & Performance
Her Bio on the website says following: “Think of a young Lita Ford, Debbie Harry or Pat Benatar treading the hard rock boards of Guns n’ Roses, Skid Row and Bon Jovi, with a wardrobe that would impress Cindy Lauper and the sex appeal of Madonna!” This description gives you a rough impression what to expect. With tight pants and a glittering, short white leather jacket, the young blonde lay was surely an eye catcher. And her voice was not less impressing. The sound she’s presenting origins from the golden era of 80s Metal and Rock, including a powerful voice and captivating performance. The songs are laced with heavy guitar riffs and catchy hook lines. For her show, I guess, the kind of sound was rather unexpected by the audience. People were first a bit reluctant, but during the course of the show, they were more and more into the music, clapping along. There was a close connection to the audience and I found it especially sweet when Mia tried to speak German. She even entered the very small security pit to be closer to the audience.

For ‘Living for Tomorrow’ with kind of a poppy feel, Mia wanted to see lighters in the air. At least a few people followed her command. Following ‘Lady Killer’ was dedicated to all the women in the room. Slowly, the set moved towards its end. ‘Never Too Late’ saw her changing her jacket and after the song introducing the band. Then we had a few presents for the audience. Mia threw some baseball caps into the crowd. The set was closed with the GUNS ‘N ROSES cover ‘You Could Be Mine’, supported by loud clapping of the crowd. Good warm-up!

Steel Panther

STEEL PANTHER are a Glam Rock/ Heavy Metal band (in their own words: the greatest Heavy Metal band of all times) that was established under this name in 2009. Many members were active in bands during the late 1980s and they started off as a cover band. So far, they released two studio albums and have gained a lot of popularity during the last year. This is also related to their funny lyrics, 80s style Glam Rock and of course their party-like live performances. The new album is called ‘All You Can Eat’ and was out in March 2014 via the own label Open E Records. With the new album STEEL PANTHER sound better than ever before and songs like ‘Gloryhole’, ‘Gangbang At The Old Folks Home’ and ‘BVS’ demonstrate the huge musical abilities of the band. Through the last years, the band furthermore developed the reputation of a great live band.  The band consists of Michael Starr (Vocals), Satchel (Guitar, Vocals), Lexxi Foxxx (Bass, Guitar) and Stix Zadina (Drums). http://www.steelpantherrocks.com / http://www.facebook.com/steelpantherkicksass

Music & Performance
When you have ever seen STEEL PANTHER live on stage, you know that you won’t get served something usual. Musically and visually, the band pays tribute to the days of 80s glam metal. The show contains not only music but also a lot of comedy elements, starting with played conflicts between band members or humorous discussions about sex and drugs. When the show started, the hall was packed and already before, people were throwing full beer cups into the air… something I really could skip… and would continue during the following concert. When the IRON MAIDEN’s ‘The Number of the Beast’ sounded through the speakers, people were already clapping and screaming, finally welcoming the band for their first song, ‘Pussywhipped’. Yeah, already the song title hint to the sexual content of the show. When looking at the clothing style of the band with glittering tight pants, bandanas in the long hair and ripped shirts you knew why so many people in the audience were dressed in the same way. After ‘Tomorrow night’, a really, really long musical break followed where the band talked a lot, of course in a dirty way, welcomed the audience in German and introduced the band members. Finally, the show went on. If you ask me, this conversational break was a bit too long.

A bit into the show, A man with hat was sitting on the shoulders of someone else… usually it’s girls doing this… and of course the band wanted to see some tits. And guess what.. of course the man showed them. But that was not enough. The band had some fun treating it further, asking the man to show his dick. I already had strange pictures in my face and indeed, the man showed his little on… being commented cynically by the band, of course, how small it was. Well, also something I do not really need but that’s the stuff you get when attending a STEEL PANTHER show. Take it or leave it! Well, and the show went on with more dirty talk, more glam metal, more jumping and screaming by the crowd. If you like it or not, the band really knows how to party! And with ‘Party all Day’ the show found its end.
