Schiller

The project was formed by Christopher van Deylen a little eternity ago with his companion Mirko von Schlieffen, who left the project already in its early days, that is, after the second album 'Zeitgeist' was released. If you've come to think now that meant the end for everything you were proven wrong for van Deylen had enough ideas himself to push the project into spheres never imagined before. With SCHILLER and its constantly improved live presentation he went on a musical victory march. The newest opus 'Atemlos' once again sent van Deylen & band on a journey through various cities and provided people with a 3D sound experience. But now there was a new adventure coming up... http://musik.schillerserver.de/

Music & Performance

SCHILLER with pure electronics and completely instrumental. Having witnessed it the other way around already with full-scale instrumentation and guest singers made it seem, by SCHILLER terms, something like an electronic acoustic concert. So we agree the setting was a different one and also the requirements seemed to be different. Instead of the usual, the concert was completely seated, which doesn't really happen that often with an electronic band. The highlight feature for the evening of course was the surround sound it was presented in, and already with the first sonic episode which build up slowly on spherical layers, it became clear the sound guys had done a terrific job again with any details being as clear as a crystal from every angle. This evening's setlist comprised a variety of SCHILLER compositions shining in all their beauty, most of which hardly left the down-tempo area. But that is not to say they lacked the dynamics you've come to know and love from other SCHILLER shows ta all

Particularly that goes for our two drummers of the evening Cliff Hewitt and Ralf Gustke who gave the dream-like compositions some impressing drum and percussion textures that only contributed to falling into awe even more. But no matter if those sounds where of rhythmical nature or some of the intricate, endless washes of melody coming from the synth towers in the middle, they were completely filling out the consciousness of each and every person in the room. Well, maybe not everyone; some just couldn't stop babbling and with such music that is just annoying. Anyway, when we left the room we did it with memories of an unique musical experience that, and here I think I can speak for both of us, we fairly enjoyed.
