Album Review
Geoff Thorpe is one of the most important American guitar players for almost 35 years and the main man behind VICIOUS RUMORS. After a “gold” period for the band with albums like ‘Soldiers Of The Night’, ‘Digital Dictator’, ‘Vicious Rumors’ and ‘Welcome To The Ball’ came a period of bad albums (the death of Carl Albert was one of the main reasons) and many line-up changes. After 2011, the band is back, ‘Razorback Killers’ was a very good album and the big tour that followed the release of the album showed that the band is really back for good.
‘Electric Punishment’ is the second album with Brian Allen behind the microphone and moves in the same musical style as its predecessor. The album is full of heavy riffs powerful drums and nice melodies. In ‘Electric Punishment’ we have classic VICIOUS RUMORS tracks like ‘Black X List’, slower tracks like ‘Together we Unite’ and the almost ballad ‘Escape From Hell’. Another very good track of the album is the METALLICA meets MEGADETH track ‘I Am the Gun’ .Also we have the so and so cover version of the KISS track ‘Strange Ways’.
The weak point of the band is that when you go to next track you forgot the previous and when the album ends you don't remember many things about the songs you listened. For sure the VICIOUS RUMORS fans will love the album but I’m not sure if the album can bring new fans to the band.
