Single Review

Lately there has been much discussion concerning the death of the Heavy Metal genre. I don’t know if these Cassandras asked the opinion of Udo Dirkschneider about it. With this new EP, U.D.O. proves that this will only happen over his dead body. He is a Rock’n’Roll soldier above anything else and he’ll not surrender. With a front cover that is a direct analogy to S.Kubrick’s “Clockwork Orange”, and its main character, Alex, this EP is a prelude to their new album ‘REV-Raptor’ that will be released on May, 20. The ‘Leatherhead’ is a tribute to the Heavy Metal scene and its fans that are die hard. Straight and heavy riffs, relentless and heavy to the core I think that this song is gonna be a major metal hit. The ‘Rock’n’Roll Soldiers’ describes perfectly the very essence of U.D.O. and the personal stance of all the band members, from the days of ACCEPT back in the 70’s till now. The ‘Free or Rebellion’ and ‘Run!’ though they can be found in ‘Thundervision’ DVD are excellent add-ons, with the former bringing to my mind the ‘I’m a Rebel’ days and the latter to have something from the low but heavy pace of ‘Can’t Stand the Night’. In short, as MANOWAR once sung “whimpers and posers leave the hall”. And one should be certain, U.D.O. practice what they preach!
