Skin
Skin in the Netherlands, many fans must have been waiting for this evening, the venue sure was full of enthusiastic people waiting for their idol. When we arrived the party had already started with Green Lizard as the opening act. Unfortunatly we had to miss them. The crowd seemed pleased though but they could hardly wait for the next act which was to be their beloved Skin.
Skin
A large back drop with her name on it hung at the back of the stage, the same logo of her name is to be found on the merchandise, all simple and stylish. Vredenburg is a strange venue for a concert, the stage in the middle of it, a big space for standing audience and then there are seats all around. It is almost like an arena in ancient Rome.

Music
Skin is a very (very) energetic person and in the beginning of the performance this stood in the way of her vocal qualities. It was hard to understand what she was singing, she shouted out all of her power in these songs but it was an overdose. Later on it got better, much better. A lot of songs from her latest album were sung but also some older songs such as ‘Hedonism’ which can really break you heart the way she sings it. We were treated to some new, first time, songs. ‘Born a Good Girl’ was one of these songs which is about things you want in live but can’t have. During this song she plays the guitar her self which allows her to put some energy in to the guitar and perform a song full of power but not too much. At the end of the show Skin was shouted back to the stage several times and because of this she ended the show with another new song.

Like I said before Skin has energy, and not just a bit. She is an explosion of movement and sound. Jumping around the stage. She is supported by a band which mostly keeps to the background but one of them takes a bigger part in the show, it was a shame he never got a spotlight like Skin for he surely deserved it spinning around with his guitar and getting down on his knees in front of the audience. Skin has great contact with the audience, if you are in the front you are in for a treat. If you speak to her she just might answer, like two girls who held up a sign that said ‘kisses’, well they got kisses, right on the lips. She leans in to the audience and at one point even stage dives and is placed back on the stage by her fans. She loves the attention of the audience but she gives it back as well. For the audience which took place in the seats it was fun to see the light, there were all kinds of shapes and colour moving over the stage, a nice extra to the show. I don’t think any fan has regretted being here this evening, it was a night to remember.
