katalysm.jpgCanadian death metallers Kataklysm have cancelled their participation in the X-Mass Festivals 2005 European tour this December.

In an official press release, the band blame the cancellation on "the simple reason that the new album will not be ready in time to coincide with" the trek and "it made no sense" to do the tour. Instead, Kataklysm have confirmed that they will take part in the No Mercy Festivals 2006, to be followed by a series of dates across Europe.

With regards to the new album, Kataklysm bassist Stephane Barbe writes:
"The writing process is going very well and according to plan. All the focus, the ideas, the passion and the drive are there, and that's what makes good albums, in my opinion. Expect nothing but hard work and dedication with the new one. Our fans deserve the best from us. "

Kataklysm will be in pre-production mode for most of the summer and plan to begin recording in late July/August/September at an as-yet-undetermined location with producer/guitarist J-F Dagenais. The band's new album, entitled "In the Arms of Devastation," has a tentative release date of February 2006.
