Extreme Metal outfit ARCH ENEMY have a new guitar player in their ranks who replaces Chris Amott for the band’s massive touring activities starting in early October. The new axe-wizard’s name is Fredrik Åkesson who already showed his talent for renowned artists like Talisman, Krux, John Norum, Tiamat and also in his own band Southpaw. His comment on joining forces with ARCH ENEMY: “I was really thrilled when Michael Amott called me up and gave me the opportunity to play with ARCH ENEMY. I am excited about going on tour with them, and to meet you all. C-Ya out there - it's time to burn!"Furthermore the band has just made a kick start on this year’s Ozzfest tour: the critically acclaimed new album “Doomsday Machine” has sold impressive 35.000 copies in the States, dominated the sales at the Ozzfest and made ARCH ENEMY this year’s standout, breakthrough artist at the festival. Michael Amott’s post-Ozzfest feedback thus is understandably overwhelmed:
“Wow, that was a quick two months, and we had a blast this summer in the U.S. The Ozzfest dates were very successful for us, and we enjoyed seeing our music connect with so many fans, new and old. Also, watching our new album “Doomsday Machine” come out while we were actually in the U.S. (a first for us) was a highlight.”
To break some European necks again and promote their newest masterpiece “Doomsday Machine” (released on August 22nd, 2005) ARCH ENEMY will hit the road from October, 2nd on. There is also a change in the German dates, the show in Stuttgart will take place at Die Röhre.
After destroying Europe, the band will ferociously fall into Japan to bring pure fuckin´ Metal ecstasy to their dedicated fans there. Then, for the first time in the band’s long career ARCH ENEMY will head over to Australia and make koala bears and kangaroos run for cover. All the updated, exact dates are listed below:
