Father - Vasaii

1. Machina
The first song of the record, MACHINA, starts rough with a metallic sound from the drums. The vocals can be compared to the style of In Flames and has that typical new metal sound: a low and aggressive sound. The singer is not at full power and this makes it easier to get used to his voice. The guitars are low and rougher than you’d expect. The song is easy to follow and reminds me to song structures like those The Deftones used in the past. It’s a good beginning to get an impression of their sound and it shows they know how to make a catchy song.

2. Emon
It starts with a melodramic intro, but starts with a more aggressive sound from the singer, it gets more to life and it’s more powerfull than in the beginning. It’s also the song of which they made a videoclip. In my point of view a good reason, because the more complex guitar lines, which remind me of old deathmetal bands sometimes, are very low and fast, what makes the song more dynamic. The drums are still very rough and technical, but the voice  carries the whole song and is very melodic.

3. Sayana
With the song ‘Sayana’ they show that they can play more than only the more aggressive parts. It’s a bit a dark feeling they produce with the song, but it’s a moment where the record breaths a bit more. The vocals are cleaner and the guitars and drums are more on the background. Sometimes I get the feeling that they try to create an environnement like A Perfect Circle: not realistic and melodramic. Especialy when they’re wispering, high voices, but they do it in very special way.

4. Never come back
This is more aggressive and gives the power and energy back. I think it’ll be a good livesong, because it has the fast drumbeat and the guitars are also very fast. A good compact song, after that I forgot all the other songs. It’s the most strong and impressive song I guess. YTT continues in the powerfull way and  than: a jazz midtempo part, really funny to hear, but not really impressive.

5. Vasaii 
This one is not really worth mentioning, because it’s softer and not very dynamic, maybe it’s just a variation on the same style elements. It’s the title track of the album but not that impressive.

6. Sun
Same problem as with the previous song basically.

7. Mother
With this song finally the energy comes back, altough it has an acoustic intro.

8. Dátomic vor Machina
The last song of the record it is a more industrial song.

The record is nice but the last few songs weren’t nececarry. I hope to hear more from them, because they really desirve a change.
