That every story has two sides, is for sure when you read about the split-up from Dutch gothmetal band After Forever with their label Transmission Records. For a long time it was sure that the band wanted to break the contract, because of the lack of promotion the recordcompagny gave and today a new 'wrong 'communication' problem was there. We want to show both sides, so first the 'source' of the story.

Transmission Records published the following message on their website:

After working together for six years the Dutch metal band After Forever and the record company Transmission Records will end their cooperation. Although this was officially planned in September, Transmission Records has decided to accelerate the end of the cooperation to as early as 6th June.

Transmission Records will be the first to introduce a new innovating business model. With this business model Transmission Records will aim to make the band part-owner of the company and create a fair-deal situation. While Transmission Records is bringing their company to a new level, After Forever prefers to keep working with the normal business models.

In respect to After Forever’s opinion, Transmission Records has accelerated the end of the cooperation to give After Forever more time and space to search for a new record label. Also Transmission Records would like to emphasize that the cooperation was more than pleasant and that it wishes After Forever the best of luck with finding a new record label.

During the six years of cooperation, Transmission Records has released four albums and one mini-album by After Forever. Amongst these albums are the debut album Prison of Desire and last year released Remagine. Next to these albums After Forever has done several tours around the world and even performed at Pinkpop.

Today After Forever has existed for ten years already. In relation to this ten year anniversary, Transmission Records will release a compilation album with the best songs of ten years After Forever and four entirely new tracks.

After Forever, who announched even before the release of Remagine that they wanted to have a better label, is amazed about the story. The band writes on their website: Today, record company Transmission send a press release in which several factual errors occur.

Transmission reports that they are putting an end to the cooperation with After Forever. This decision however, had earlier already been made by the band by not accepting Transmission’s offers to extend the contract or to renew it.

After Forever found it was time for a cooperation with a new partner. Most important reasons for this decision are Transmission’s approach to promotion and marketing, especially abroad.

Also, in the last period of time, Transmission’s support and involvement had been minimal.

The recent European tour (January) made this clear to us once again with relation to press promotion and local supply of CD’s. Also, the two year old pictures send with this latest press release is evidence of no real involvement with the band.

After Forever will be playing at several festivals in Belgium, Luxemburg and The Netherlands. In the second half of this year, they will also tour through Latin America again, like they did in 2005. Next to several venues and clubs, the band will perform at three large festivals in Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires and Mexico City.

So the conclusion is that after all it is better for both After Forever and Transmission Records (Epica is still signed with them) to go their own way. Hopefully AF soon will find a good and more suitable Recordlabel. We keep you informed and check the website of the band for more news.
