Cultus Ferox – Rum-Tour 2006

The band name ‘Cultus Ferox’ (lat.) means ‘Wild Way of Life’. And so they are! After the break-up with their two youngest musicians Briantanus and Asmon (returned to their old band ‘Fabula Aetatis’) the band formed itself new. Their in summer released EP ‘Aufbruch’ announced rock sounds already. Fans that came with such an expectance to this “Rum-Tour” 2006 weren’t disappointed! The band broke up with the pure medieval structures. The traditional dances were enhanced with guitar, bass and some electronic aspects. But no overhasty conclusion: This is not only the typical Medieval-Rock-Side-Project.

Music
At the beginning of the show Brandan and his pirate crew started with some really hard rock songs. Bit by bit they added guest musicians to their energetic bagpipes and sweeping percussions. They played older traditional songs and the melodic ballads from the album ‘Wiederkehr’ which the fans were longing for - as well as new rock songs from their new album ‘Unbeugsam’ and also a Spanish dance with hot soft-shoe. Brandan was very much exerted to sing the new songs, but he is not the most talented singer. Even though his rough voice sometimes was in line with the sailor-topic.

Performance
During the intro ‘Cultus Ferox’ boarded good-humoured and pirate-dressed the stage to capture the fans’ hearts with their new spirit. The spark ignited immediately into the audience temper; they started to sing and dance. The turbulent start alternated with the softer ballads and traditional medieval stuff like ‘Albane’ or ‘Andro’. Surprisingly the songs were underlayed with a lot of singing by Brandan (nice try, boy ;). But this wasn’t the only presentation for the audience. A few songs were supported by two hot well-known dancers with a little fire special. The girls supported the band also on their authentic-medival shows on the Spectaculum-Market summer tour. One of the girls sang the female part of the beloved ‘Wolfsballade’. At the end of the show the guys of ‘Cultus Ferox’ invited their friend “Alea der Bescheidene” from ‘Saltatio Mortis’ to play a song together. The fans shouted for encore and so the band had another another five(!) powerful songs to play. May the Rum never run out ;-)
