Moon.74 – Big Stage [NN]

The third NCN day started with the German electronic rock project MOON.74 and I would that turned out to be a good choice. Of course, the songs were electronic but diverse enough and from time to time they even revealed some rock sounds able to gently wake up people coming to the festival. Although the singing voice, soft and clean, in its turn was more likely to come listeners down. However the first set of the day could be called good. // http://www.moon74.de / https://www.facebook.com/moon74music // Setlist: 1. Intro / 2. How I Feel / 3. Walk the Line / 4. Breath / 5. DoNotDream – Small Stage [NN]

A nice set from this German rock formation. Everything from the band’s name to the outfits of the musicians fitted the same style so the overall impression of the performance was ok. I definitely liked the female vocals and the refrains of some songs which were quite catchy. As for the musical part of the show the tunes were simpler than could be and missed heaviness. For sure the visual image of the band is important but not as important as music. // www.donotdream.de / https://www.facebook.com/DoNotDreamBand // Setlist: 1. Jahr für Jahr / 2. 1000 Wünsche / 3. Leb deinem Traum / 3. Orpheus / 4. Schlaflied / 5. Eiskönigin / 6. Drunken Sailor / 7. Ikarus // Rating: 7 / 10

The Saint Paul – Big Stage [NN]

Again electronic project, from Germany so I’m not going to say a lot about the music as all you need to know that it was electronic, obviously meant mostly for fans of the genre. However the vocals attracted an attention because that specific manner of singing managed to impress and together with the tunes created an atmosphere, not very dark but still peculiar. So at this point the gig was successful. And of course the audience enjoyed. // http://www.thesaintpaul.info / https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Saint-Paul/144496415600649 // Rating: 7.5 / 10

Still Patient? – Small Stage [NN]

Not bad. I mean I can’t say that it was a great concert because everything was considerably modest, the voice and the melody on the one level, good but not too impressive. Or maybe it’s because of the band’s name and the musicians demonstrated how patient they were so the set needed a bit more power and energy. Anyway the people near the stage had no intention to complain and just had fun. // www.stillpatient.de / https://www.facebook.com/stillpatient // Setlist: 1. The Sun / 2. Chameleon / 3. In Mitra Medusa Inri – Big Stage [NN]

Well, long name but it really suits the band’s style. Their live set was filled with some sort of theatricality and it felt like the music was relegated to the background nevertheless it didn’t prevent the crowd from screaming and enjoying the gig to the full. Actually one hand it looked interesting with the whole concept, that atmosphere the band added but on the other hand musically it wasn’t too original or conceptual though. // http://www.inmitramedusainri.com / https://www.facebook.com/pages/IN-MITRA-MEDUSA-INRI/252644698092765 // Setlist: 1. Chrom – Small Stage [NN]

Speaking about this set first of all I want to point out the reaction of the audience because in my opinion there were many people there who met every songs with screams and applauses while I was trying to find out something interesting for myself. The music was typically electronic yet not too monotonous. The same can be said about the performance as there were only two people onstage but they did their best and really enjoyed the gig themselves charging the audience with their happiness and energy. As for the rest, everything was common. // http://chrom-music.com / https://www.facebook.com/pages/CHROM/106585156057408 // Rating: 7 / 10

Ost+Front – Big Stage [NN]

Brrr… Don’t want to offend anyone but I don’t like OST+FRONT. Actually the music which is industrial, it is not so bad when you just listen to it without any visual support but the performance is something completely different. At first it’s really a show but so weird and I would say disgusting that everything becomes an absolute matter of taste. So there were a lot of people who liked the band’s gig and supported the musicians so I could elude without remorse. // http://www.ostfront.tv / https://www.facebook.com/ostfrontberlin // Setlist: 1. Ostfront 2014 / 2. Fleisch / 3. Liebeslied / 4. Heimkind / 5. Heimat Erde / 6. Freundschaft / 7. Denkelied / 8. Perfekt / 9. 1 + 1 / 10. Gang Bang / 11. Ich liebe es / 12. Mensch / 13. 911 / 14. Spiral69 – Culture Stage [NN]

Pleasant set played by this Italian trio: nice well-balanced tunes supplemented with expressive vocals and good heartfelt performance made this gig one of the best I had seen that day. All the compositions were lyrical and meaningful, not overloaded with scenic or sonic effects so that was also an advantage. And an impression produced with the music even made me to check out the band’s songs. Of course, I didn’t become a fan and not going to be but in general the songs are ok. // http://www.spiral69.com / https://www.facebook.com/spiral69music // Setlist: 1. Maik Höllenkrämer – Reading Stage [DV]

Here we come with another reading. Maik Höllenkrämer was reading from his book “Das Haushummelexperiment - Schockierende Einblicke in die Entstehungsgeschichte des Haustieres”. The ex-bookseller and caterer moved to Berlin in February 2008 and “Das Haushummelexperiment” is already the second book of the punk-writer. With his “Bumblebee Trash Report” he reveals the true story of the creation of the bumblebee. Turned out to be quite a funny reading.

Syntec – Small Stage [NN]

Very Synth Pop German formation SYNTEC surprisingly appeared to be fairly good. Actually if the tracks were just a little bit less electronic it would be much better but the vocals sounded quite nice and the overall impression was mostly positive. In short there were three people on the stage, the singer and two keyboard players. I always wonder why it’s like that when one player can be enough but forget to ask. Anyway all the musicians did a good job and definitely pleased the audience. // http://www.syntec-band.de / https://www.facebook.com/syntec.official // Setlist: 1. The Blind Love the Blind / 2. Fruits of You / 3. Devil in Heaven / 4. Leave Me – Love Me / 5. Angel / 6. It’s a Lie / 7. When I Call Your Name / 8. The White Man / 9. The End of the World / 10. No Brain, no Headache / 11. Joachim Witt – Big Stage [NN]

Interesting character. What to say? It seemed that almost everybody knew his songs and every music piece was welcome. Besides JOACHIM WITT himself looked charismatic and impressive, sometimes even funny, talked to the crowd and made a show also thanks to his expressive performance of each track. I listened to the new album and must say that on the record the vocals sounded better but the music itself played live was great so all the musicians demonstrated good skills and all in all that was a rocking concert. // http://www.joachimwitt.de / https://www.facebook.com/joachimwittmusik // Rating: 9 / 10

Triarii – Culture Stage [NN]

Well, that’s really martial and military so such kind of music is mostly meant for a small circle of people who like it. Anyway this set was an interesting experience yet not for long because I still prefer something light and more or less positive and the songs TRIARII played could make some people feel depressed. Again it’s just a matter of opinion. // http://www.triarii.de / https://www.facebook.com/TRIARIIHeadquarters // Rating: 5 / 10

Grendel – Small Stage [NN]

The final act playing on the small stage that day was the Dutch EBM formation GRENDEL. Maybe I had heard or seen this band before or it might be another band making the same kind of music because mostly the EBM live shows are alike but anyway that one was vigorous and driving and most part of the crowd really felt the rhythm and the musicians met a very warm welcome. // https://www.facebook.com/grendel.music // Rating: 8 / 10

Fashion Show “SLACKS” – Reading Stage [DV]

For about 25 years, Slacks Fashion creates and produces an own collection, being marked by great quality and design. The label consists of the design couple Claudine and Andreas. Claudine concentrates on designs around the corset while Andreas’ designs are based on leather and metal. In Deutzen, they presented their unique designs to an interested audience. http://www.slacks.de/

Apoptygma Berzerk – Big Stage [NN]

And finally there was time for the last of the day and of the festival in whole and APOPTYGMA BERZERK seemed to be just a perfect band for this. It was the first time when I saw their concert and can say for sure that the musicians really deserve some respect for what they are doing even if I don’t like their music. If it were pure rock, without that “electro” prefix that would better nevertheless the gig was cool, everybody enjoyed and wanted more so I think for some fans that show will be memorable. // http://www.theapboffice.com / https://www.facebook.com/ApoptygmaBerzerk // Setlist: 1. Unicorn / 2. Eclipse / 3. Burning Heretics / 4. In This Together / 5. Dead Air Einz / 6. Shadow  / 7. Apollo / 8. Love Never Dies / 9. Deep Red / 10. Love Triangle / 11. Kathy’s Song / 12. After the show, the whole festival crew gatheres at the main stage as every year for a final pic and promoter Holger thanked all fans, bands and the crew for supporting this event. And one thing is sure: we’ll be there for the anniversary edition next year!
