![]() Title: The Fourth Zone Artist: Halo Effect Genre: Electronica / New Wave / Industrial Release Date: 1st November 2009 Label: None (Released on iTunes) Album Review Jesus…rifling through my calendar sheets and all the music magazines of the last few months while listening to HALO EFFECT, I was asking myself the same question over and over again. Was there a release-date of a new AND ONE album featuring THE ETERNAL AFFLICT that I’ve missed? Or was Martin L. Gore trying to gain world domination by educating willing disciples? These sort of were my first impressions of the music HALO EFFECT is going to unleash on an interested audience. Founded in autumn 2001, the band’s aim is “to create an original electronic product even remaining clear the artistic references (first DEPECHE MODE and generally the German electronic music, Synth Pop, Dark Wave and EBM)”. The lyrics are in English out of the assumption that this language, together with German, is the one working best with the electronic music, allowing at the same time to have an international product. HALO EFFECT has been in the Italian alternative scene since 2003. During those years they played lots of concerts, released demos and eventually attracted the attention of an ever growing number of electronic music fans with their sound (many times said as being similar to DEPECHE MODE). They were also support of famous bands like MELOTRON, DE/VISION, KRISMA, THE CRÜXSHADOWS or recently COVENANT. The songs from their forthcoming album ‘The Fourth Zone’ are exceedingly reminding of AND ONE as already said. But in an incredibly awesome way! HALO EFFECT is utilizing the structures and top-class samples as well as the typical synthesizer sounds, Steve Naghavi improved over the years without boring you to death, because it’s the well known “AND ONE thing”. Besides that, HALO EFFECT tries to find their own niche in this business by applying pace and harshness on the songs! That’s the part reminding of THE ETERNAL AFFLICT, not least because of John Peverieri´s voice! However, their big idol is one of my favourite bands: DEPECHE MODE! Honestly, how could anything go wrong? It’s a shame that these guys are still searching for a label! Tracklist 01. Scream 02. Hammer the Gear 03. Life goes on 04. Deeper than you 05.
