![]() Title: Suffering vs. Salvation Artist: Battle Scream Genre: Rock, Electro, Metal Release Date: 27th November 2009 Label: Attack Promotion Album Review The German five-piece from Dresden was formed in 2001 and has released the records `Sick´ (2004), `Stalker´ (2007) and `Suffering´ (2008) up to now. The latter one could be seen as the most significant piece of work in their career merging heavy guitar-driven rock and electronic influences to a very special soundscape. BATTLE SCREAM are now ready to attack again: On 27th November 2009, front man and vocalist Alex, René (guitar, programming, vocals), Toni (guitar), Simon (programming, synths) and Heiko (drums) will introduce the new long-player `Suffering vs. Salvation´ to those who enjoy energizing and powerful stuff on their turntables. Besides new tracks, you will also find several remixes that were done by big names of the scene. Popular representatives such as AGONOIZE, PROJECT PITCHFORK, DIE KRUPPS and STAUBKIND contributed a remix to the record leading to the assumption that `Suffering vs. Salvation´ will be pretty effective. Enough the premature praise, here comes the practical test. Indeed, one shouldn’t underrate the proportion of metal. Booming basses, rough vocals and fast drumming are the most striking features of `Unborn´ that prepares you well for the general prevailing mood on the album. “Gloom and doom” seems to be the motto dominating the entire production. For example, the firstly dragging, throttled `Ghost in the Machine´ begins with mysterious and kinda threatening keyboard sounds that lead over to a dark mid-tempo track to finally turn into a sinister up-tempo anthem that you won’t get out of your head. `Circus of Hope´ is a high-speed electro song garnished with synth gimmicks forming a catchy melody nestling around hard and punchy drums. Coming up with the sounds of a wailing violin, the hellish `Salvation´ is partly sung in German and English language and appears as a martial killer track which is one of the album’s highlights. The remixes are worth listening as well; I particularly recommend the DAS ICH contribution `Heuchler´. To sum up: BATTLE SCREAM´s latest stroke is addressed to lovers of melodic and at the same time tough material that is perfectly suited to bang the head and to growl along. Fans of the remixing bands should also have a closer look at `Suffering vs. Salvation´. Well done! Tracklist 01. Intro 02. Unborn 03. Secret Invasion 04. Ghost in the Machine 05. Circus of Hope 06.
