Dear Festivalfans, on 25th and 26th July 2015 the Amphi Festival in Cologne will open the gates for its next round. After the big anniversary 2014 the promoters transfered the 11thedition of their worldfamous gothic festival to the Amphi Eventpark. A new venue, invented especially for this occasion. A surprising step, a straight cut, accompanied by the slogan „Amphi moves – we follow!“, which underlines that fans of the dark culture may again look forward to a highly impressive event that continues to push boundaries. Along with a clear nod to the early days of the festival, introducing the impressive amphi-theater-like ranks of the Lanxess Arena, Amphi 2015 will play out its full expertise from the past ten years and sheds full spotlight on the demands of its faithful audience.Responding to the continuous requests for more music outdoor, the main stage at the arena will be accompanied by two open-air stages this time, which even ramp up the festival´s line-up to the highest count ever with over 45 artists. While open-air stage no. 1 (at the greenfield in front of the arena) replaces the old „Staatenhaus“-stage, open-air stage no. 2 (in the northeastern corner) takes over the former „Theater“-line-up and lifts it to an even more versatile level, featuring reading performances and acoustic shows enriched by handpicked genre acts. In addition the scenery will be lined by countless traders, placed all over the open-air festivalground and in the hallway of the adjacent city building. Feel invited to a neat shopping tour or take a relaxing stroll through the vicinity. There will be a lot to discover.
Also in terms of the gastronomic offer the new Amphi Festival likes a bold appearance. Compared to last year the prices for drinks have been reduced, whereas the variety of drinks and dishes (including vegetarian) has been extended by various new specialties. A large number of food-stalls, seating areas, a big beer-garden and outdoor chill-out areas will take full care of the audience´s well-being. One of Amphi Festival´s strongest qualities remains the high level of convenience. Always having set-off from the others as an urban festival, the Cologne-based gothic-institution now features free parking garages directly at the venue. Even the next tram station, bus stop and station for long-distance trains are located literally at the doorstep. How cool is that? You expect water-toilets instead of smelly portable ones? No problem!
The biggest clou however sticks in the Lanxess Arena itself, new home to the main stage. Roofed, sheltered and fully air-conditioned no weather influence will compromise the excitement there. A perfect refuge and particularly strong benefit, as it stands against two open-air stages. So while there´s still a lot of outdoor activity, you can now hop indoor and avoid sunburn or wet feet, whenever you feel like it. Beyond its (unseated) infield the arena provides sufficient opportunities for everybody to sit down anytime with a perfect view at the main stage. A strictly limited number of skybox seats with flatrate for drinks even puts some very exclusive luxury on top.
All these features provide the highest possible level of convenience during the concerts, as no one will be forced to keep on his feet all day long to enjoy the music. This circumstance in particular inspired the Amphi promoters to pick up a frequently uttered desire from the fans, asking for a prolonged agenda. This time headliners like And One or VNV Nation will turn the arena into a lion´s den until 2 am, respectively 11 pm on Sunday – so brace yourselves for goosebumps galore!
The 11. Amphi Festival expects over 16.000 spectators from all over the world, to celebrate a peaceful-familiar fest in Cologne on 25th & 26th July 2015. For fans from farther regions and enthusiasts who like to spool up their festival drives Friday, 24th July, holds up a few extra activities, like the exclusive opening event „Call The Ship To Port 2015“ aboard the „MS RheinEnergie“ or the official pre-party at „Wartesaal im Zollhafen“. For everybody who prefers to spend the night under a star-lit sky, instead of a hotel room, the official Amphi Camp at Jugendpark Cologne is highly recommended.
