saltatiomortis zirkuszeitgeistA deep look into the throat of the reigning zeitgeist. The eight minstrels regard our world and society in a rocking medieval and critical light. SALTATIO MORTIS run riot curiously, impartially and artistically through our world with their medieval instruments and a proper pound of rock as modern as never before while holding up the mirror to the zeitgeist. Those who recognize themselves or those who feel trapped don't deserve better. Minstrel rock at its best! Rise the curtain and open the circus ring for the ‘Zirkus Zeitgeist’ (release: 14th August).

For example, ‘Wir sind Papst’ begins with marching music, swings into rock and ends powerfully with ‘Scotland the Brave’, the bag pipes song par excellence, funnily underlined by a tuba bass. “The song was created a day after Germany's victory at the football world cup”, explains Lasterbalk der Lästerliche, “we are happy about so many people who party together but we also have an uneasy feeling regarding the black-red-golden sea of flags. That's why we ask ourselves the question in this song: Is something like national pride allowed to exist? Because when there are Germans there are also others. Our plea is: Let's be world citizens.”

SALTATIO MORTIS are serious about it. But they are minstrels, not killjoys. As modern Eulenspiegels they don't have the party spoiled for them. Because of all the ugly topics in the media they wish for: “The world can't be that bad. Cannot someone come along and say it was an April Fool's joke?!” That's why they ask programmatically in the opener of ‘Zirkus Zeitgeist’: ‘Wo sind die Clowns?’ (release: 31st July) It's them who celebrate giddiness, who ask themselves why “Christmas time” is already declared in August, it's them who “measure happiness” and who celebrate and demonise alcohol and their “wild life” in ‘Trinklied’ in a rocking fashion. Staying true to their motto “Those who dance don't die”, they party wildly but never limply- more and more fans get themselves into this honest, direct way.

SALTATIO MORTIS present the song ‘Geradeaus’ to those who always exist with regard to success who scream at them “Sellouts! Betrayal!”. Illustrated with self-ironic quotes from own songs, it's a pleasure for those knowing the band to listen to this song. Lasterbalk comments: “We write and sing exactly what we want and how we want it! We are so totally ourselves.” Authentic, upright, unbendable and without any commercial muzzle. That's what it comes down to or the way it's told in a song: “On this road which is only created when we go together”.

Those who want to share the road are invited whole-heartedly. It's their time, the best for SALTATIO MORTIS.
