Blind Guardian & Orphaned Land
Fantastic adventures into other worlds through time and space – carried by well-known harshness and new shenanigans. An adventure which will not only take the listeners into other dimensions filled with tyrants, gods and the Holy Grail but which also allowed the band to travel to their own past. On the new epos ‘Beyond the Red Mirror’ BLIND GUARDIAN forge a bridge between yesterday and tomorrow and start at the point they left their protagonist of their timeless master piece ‘Imaginations from the Other Side’ behind 20 years ago.
Not only content-wise do the ten new songs on ‘Beyond the Red Mirror’ capture the famous stories of songs like ‘Bright Eyes’ and ‘And the Story Ends’ but also sound-wise do the guys from Krefeld build on the elemental forces of former times. They directly took the harshness and power which they brought on stage during their ‘At the Edge of Time’ tour every evening with them into the studio. ‘Beyond the Red Mirror’ which was recorded in the Twilight hall Studios in Grefrath together with the producer Charlie Bauerfeind (SAXON, HAMMERFALL, HELLOWEEN) is to be released four years after the success of ‘At the Edge of Time’ which entered immediately position 2 of the German record charts and position1 of the US Billboard Heartseekers charts as well as position 208 of the US Billboard top 200 record charts in the second half of 2010. As overwhelming as their stories is the fact that BLIND GUARDIAN always invent themselves anew. They worked with three equally great choirs for ‘Beyond the Red Mirror’, one of them from the Czech Republic (Prague), one from Hungary (Budapest) and the other one from the US (Boston). Additionally, two 90-men-orchestras proved what they are capable of which has led to an absolutely thrilling result.
''We want to surprise and impress with our music. Nowadays, music is so often arbitrary and predictable. But we want to evolve ourselves and our music continuously'', the BLIND GUARDIAN guitarist Andre Olbrich says explaining the basic concept of the band which he co-founded more than 30 years ago. Every second of ‘Beyond the Red Mirror’ proves that they do justice to their claim of sounding new and fresh with every new record. Starting with the opener ‘Ninth Wave’ which is a nine and a half minutes long epos and ending with the grand finale with the fitting title ‘Grand Parade’. The second nine and a half minutes long track boasts with heroic harmonies and glorious chorales which turn into a real explosion of sounds. Not without reason does the guitarist Olbrich consider ‘Grand Parde’ “the best song we have ever written”.
After the one-of-a-kind start of the year at the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise, BLIND GUARDIAN go on an extensive Europe tour from April to June in order to present ‘Beyond the Red Mirror’ live, supported by special guest ORPHANED LAND.
