Philipp Dittberner, Milwalkie

Singers and songwriters are a dime a dozen, there are many soulful lyrics around, inspired either by being in love or heartbroken, and there's quite a number of tunes played on the acoustic guitar. So, there's not only an abundant supply of singer-songwriters, but also fierce competition among them. The more amazing it is when someone is suddenly played at the major radio stations all across the country and gathers about a million clicks on Soundcloud and YouTube - and all that without a record deal! PHILLIP DITTBERNER is one of those few.

Within a few days and just with one single song the 25-year-old musician from Berlin has won countless ears and hearts. He can hardly believe it: “I remember well how I was at concert with a someone who also often appears in my songs at the Admiralspalast in Berlin two years ago. There were 1,700 people! And my companion looked at me and said, `Philip, one day you'll also be standing up there!´” Two years later, it actually came true! Phillip creates self-confident and romantic music telling his stories to a young, wistful generation. His tunes are minimalistic as he plays his acoustic guitar organically and is sometimes accompanied by the mellow beats of his friend Marv, who he met online. He sings about all those illustrious emotional worlds that we all know of, but that often lead to a loss for words: love, longing, and lust for live. One example would be their first hit, the melancholic song ‘Wolke 4’.

Currently, Philipp is in the studio to record his debut album. However, before it's going to be released, he'll play some shows all over Germany in March and April. On March 17, you can listen to the balladeer at the Skater Palace in Münster. In Cologne, Bochum, Münster, Cottbus, and Jena PHILLIP DITTBERNER will be supported by MILWALKIE, who are the brothers Matt and Steve Morris, Sam Coleman and Benedikt Wahls. Originally from Scotland, the independent rock band is now based in Berlin. Their newest album is called ‘Adjustments’.
