Zita Rock 2008: Subway to Sally, ASP, Unheilig, Dreadful Shadows, Eisbrecher, Zeromancer, Down Below
“Berlin, Berlin we’re driving to Berlin”! A shout like a thunder sounds through the Soccer arenas of the nation every year, when the big ones and the small ones meet up to their happy cup shooting and where the midget upstages the giant again.
A total of 7 bands in a top quality line-up will perform on the open-air stage starting with the shooting stars of DOWN BELOW, who will open the festival at 2:00 PM and the Norwegian Industrial Rockers of ZEROMANCER (already a legend at lifetime with SEIGMEN) to EISBRECHER Captain Alexx, whose contribution to the prussian-bajuvaric understanding among nations surely makes the porcelain at the office of the federal chancellor clatter.
A special highlight is the performance of the DREADFUL SHADOWS. Even after their spectacular return at the Amphi Festival 2007, live appearances of the band around Sven Friedrich are very rare. But at home they’ll give everything and play, what the fans missed for 7 years. Goose bumps guaranteed
You don’t have to say much about UNHEILIG. Close and powerful voiced, “Der Graf” turns every concert into an experiences that connect fans of every age. Music with a heart and for the soul at the Zita Rock Festival 2008.
ASP are right behind as the prototype of the modern gothic rocker. True originals with a pinch of Folk which spices up this explosive mixture. Hits like ‘Sing Child’ or ‘Ich will brennen!’ are already classics and on stage ASP take no prisoners. Not even in the citadel.
As the seventh and last band SUBWAY TO SALLY lead the line-up of the this year’s Zita Rock Festival. Their most recent album ‘Bastard’ reached the magical #7 of the German album charts and who already experienced the seven folk metallers from the neighbour live, wants it again and again. A fiery spectacle, when the night falls at the veits dance on the volcano.
Aside from the musical moments, the citadel itself is the secret star in the program of the Zita Rock Festival. In the years 1559 – 1594 built after the drafts of the Italian architect Francesco Chiaramella de Gandino, it is considered today as one of the most important renaissance fortresses of Europe. The walls which are surrounded by water reach a length of up to 208 meters and encloses with the 30 meters high “Juliusturm” at the inner yard of the citadel, the landmark of Spandau.
Discovered in the 60s as a popular motive for the TV and movie industry, the citadel provides – as the home for the Zita Rock Festival – room for 10.000 music fans. In addition the fortress provides for a lazy start of the day with lots of parking places at the location, when the doors open up again for the audience.
