Cologne, the German city, harbouring that famous little cathedral calls all dark creatures back to the Rheinpark grounds again. The Tanzbrunnen Cologne, which had gotten close to our hearts and characterized the Amphi Festival sustainably from 2006 till 2014 will be available again in 2016. “Home is where the heart is”, as the folks say. Therefore promoters grab the opportunity to return to the place they were forced to leave behind after 2014 due to organisational restrictions, that once held them from continuing the way you all came to love.
With cosiness and summer open air feeling for example the fountain-lounge will be back, as well as the popular beach club along with pure holiday feeling. Alongside the open air stage at Tanzbrunnen and the indoor stage at Theater am Tanzbrunnen they prepared another neat surprise:
NEW: ORBIT STAGE AT MS RHEINENERGIE + SECOND PARTY FLOOR
Last year’s Orbit Stage remains faithful to its name as it finds a new home in 2016, rocking the MS RHEINENERGIE. Only for the Amphi Festival, Europe’s unique event-catamaran will land and stay at the boarding bridge in Cologne-Deutz, just 200 meters from the Tanzbrunnen. During the whole weekend you can see numerous live-shows there, relax on the ship’s lavish sun-deck with a large number of seats or dance through the night, since promoters come to offer an alternative second floor, in addition to the regular after-show party at the Theater. High-class setting meets festivals pleasures! Something you will look forward to...
Also in 2016, the organizers have thought of a diversified line-up to make the in parts long journeys some fans are taking on worth the while. Big names stand close to the little gems, making sure you’ll be offered a diversified line-up once again. With its incredible live-programme, stylistic diversity and high standard in organization and the Tanzbrunnen Cologne as one of Germany´s most sophisticated open air venues, the Amphi Festival always stood out in terms of comfort and elegance! A fan once summed it up nicely, stating: “Amphi is the S-class among the festivals!“, while author Christian von Aster formed the legendary phrase “Alles wird Amphi (All is Amphi)“.

Official Pre-Party
For many years the official Amphi Pre-Party on Friday ahead of the festival has been a popular landmark in the course of the weekend. So far located at the
opposite shore of the Rhine, it is time to bring the pre-party closer to the festival ground, the Amphi camp and the pier of the ship. Beginning on 22nd July at 10 pm we want to celebrate with you and a fine selection of star DJs at the Theater am Tanzbrunnen. This time for you behind the decks will be nobody less than: DJ ALEX WESSELSKY (Eisbrecher)

The Tanzbrunnen Theater creates a special atmosphere and delivers a great setting for a hot summer party night. More (if the weather plays along) you also have the opportunity to walk over to the adjacent beach club „KM689“ and enjoy the old town city line, paired up with the relaxing beach feeling. Admission is at 6.00 Euro plus charges for all visitors. A festival ticket is not required for the pre-party. However for the majority of visitors that do own a festival ticket they offer a possibility to pick up the festival wristband directly at the party. A respective station will be put up inside the Theater (presumably at the foyer).

Call the Ship to Port
On 22nd July 2016 it´s time again for another edition of CALL THE SHIP TO PORT. Alongside the musical offerings, served by APOPTYGMA BERZERK and OOMPH!, the MS RheinEnergie itself plays of course a major role of the evening. Europe’s biggest domestic event ship and its crew already look forward to untie the ropes and take you on an excursion along the Rhine. From the old town panorama to the industrial complex of the “Godorfer Hafen“ and back to the nightly shores of Cologne with the famous cathedral lit in the dark, this journey creates an unforgettable experience!
The atmosphere aboard the MS RheinEnergie truly unfolds its own genuine charm. Regardless if floating along the Rhine on the sun deck in pleasant company or dancing to cool live-bands in the ship´s concert hall – it is hard to imagine a more enjoyable beginning of the festival weekend.
