The Who – “The Who Hits 50! - THE WHO Live In Concert” – Special Guest: tba

“The Who Hits 50!”: Rock classics like ‘My Generation’ and ‘Tommy’ live for the first time for nine years! Nine years have passed since THE WHO played in Germany for the last time and now the band is back for two shows in Germany, on 10th September in Oberhausen und on 12th September in Stuttgart. Tickets for the Best-Of shows cost 50 to 120 euros plus charges (pre-sale) and are available at all known ticket offices.

“The Who Hits 50!” is an ambiguous title for the tour. The band not only celebrated numerous chart positions, they are also celebrating a big birthday – their first LP ‘My Generation’ was released in 1965. Back then, the band already played in Germany. After their live debut as a quartet, the founding members Roger Daltrey (lead vocals) and Pete Townshend (guitar / vocals) are now touring with more supporting musicians: At the drums, we have Zak Starkey, son of the BEATLES drummer Ringo Starr. Simon Townshend, the younger brother of THE WHO composer Pete, is responsible for guitar, mandolin and backing vocals. At the bass we have Pino Palladino. And finally, the band is completed by three keyboarders / background vocalists, namely Loren Gold, John Corey and Frank Simes who also works as the “Musical Director”.

What can you expect from the concerts? Just watch the live DVD ‘Live In Hyde Park’, recorded on 26th June 2015 during a concert in front of 50,000 people. The show offers a power show peppered with hits and classics showing the whole career of THE WHO, starting with songs from 1965 to their 1982 album ‘It’s hard’. The setlist contains, among others, following titles: ‘I Can’t Explain’, ‘The Seeker’, ‘Who Are You’, ‘The Kids Are Alright’, ‘I Can See For Miles’, ‘My Generation’, ‘Behind Blue Eyes’, ‘Join Together’, ‘You Better You Bet’, ‘Pinball Wizard’, ‘See Me, Feel Me’/’Listening To You’, ‘Baba O’Riley’ and ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’. Who listened to this and saw it live will agree to Eddie Vedder. The PEARL JAM singer said: “THE WHO are one of the most excellent live bands of all times!”
