Female fronted extreme metal band WYKKED WYTCH from Florida is led by demonic vocal assault of iconic front-woman Ipek. It is incredible that all these death growls, black metal shrieks and operatic passages are done by a woman. ‘The Ultimate Deception’ is already the band’s fifth album. The voice of Ipek is surely polarising. But that’s one side of the medal. Musically, the songs on this new album are often too confusing and unstructured. That’s the downside of otherwise musically well-done tracks with hypnotic riffs.
Conclusion: The songs have everything that an extreme metal fan wants: brutality, technicality, melody, catchy riffs, choruses and shredding solos, but the band just overdid anything. Sometimes less is more...
