5th September 2009
InExtremo, MacBeth
The Festung Mark, Magdeburg is an unusual venue. It's shaped like a Gladiator Pit and consists of a half moon shaped courtyard dug into the ground so that you are in effect open air but below street level. It gives, however, for a really atmospheric music venue as you feel totally cut off from the surrounding town. The weather was great (no rain) and doors opened promptly, with security being polite and friendly. There was an array of stalls as well as the usual band merchandising, selling medieval items and so forth, and a variety of food and bars so it felt more like a mini festival and less like a straightforward gig.

Nocturnal Culture Night 4 Day 1: Diary of Dreams, Klangstabil, Angels & Agony, Painbastard, Mantus, XP8
On Friday afternoon, after all work was done and still with good weather we made our way to Deutzen near Leipzig where the cosy Nocturnal Culture Night Festival was to take place once again. Already for the fourth time the festival was expecting its attendees at Deutzen’s Kulturpark with a top class line-up. The closer we came, all the worse became the weather and it was raining when we arrived at the venue a little later than planned, and entered the placid festival grounds.

Rockarea Festival Day 2: Amon Amarth, Schandmaul, Sabaton, Endstille
20th – 22th August 2009
Rockarea Festival Day 2: Amon Amarth, Schandmaul, Sabaton, Endstille
Lorely is first of all the most beautiful location for a festival. Second Saarconcerts managed to have an outstanding line-up. Enough reason to forget the Dutch 'Lowlands' festival and cross the border with Germany to the south near Belgium.

2nd September 2009
Cynic, The Intersphere
The 2nd September 2009 should be a special evening for music lovers, as the American Death Metal band CYNIC had announced to come to the Colos-Saal. CYNIC was founded in 1987 by Paul Masvidal (vocals, guitar) and Sean Reinert (keys, drums). After several demo recordings, the band released its debut album `Focus´ in 1993. Due to this long-player´s incredible virtuosity and the breathtaking soundscape, CYNIC was on everyone´s lips and thrilled its fans as well as its critics. Unfortunately, the formation broke up one year later which made it acquire a cult status in the Metal scene. When CYNIC decided to reunite and to go on tour, the fans jumped for joy and couldn´t wait to buy the second full-length album `Traced in Air´ (2008) which was highly praised again. Additionally, the quartet from Florida had been the support act of OPETH last year. http://www.myspace.com/cyniconline / http://www.cyniconline.com/
