Christmas
We continue our tradition of Christmas interviews. This year, our questions were answered by wonderful talented music women Sonja Kraushofer (L'ÂME IMMORTELLE, PERSEPHONE) and Katarina Gubanova (MISS KEY). We hope you all had a good Christmas time and to all of you we wish a pleasant reading!

andrewylar introLast year, BEYOND OBSESSION released a new record ‘Moments of Truth’ and afterwards, the guys were travelling quite a lot during different tours… time enough to meet with André Wylar in Frankfurt and get him to be a part of our project. Today we would like to share the results of our cooperation with you.

Reflections of Darkness [RoD]: When did you get your first tattoo and what was it? Did it take much time until you decided to get it done?
André: I got the first tattoo at the age of 19. It was demon's face on my right upper arm. The fact I wanted to have tattoos was already clear since I was 16. My friends had already their first colour under skin but my parents have allowed me to do it only when I became 18. However, after my 18th birthday I still had about one year left to find the right motive and the right artist.

40yearsofwave
If you are reading this webzine, you surely know that Wave is a general term now widely used to group different “dark” musical styles: New Wave, Post Punk, EBM, Synth Pop, Darkwave... If everybody agrees that the origin of those genres lies in the 70ies, it is not so easy to pinpoint which year, which precise moment and which artists and/or songs marked their actual birth.

alexandrababiy introSometimes it's good to change well-established rules, and that's what we're going to do today. The project exists already for more than one year and we have always tried to add a new interview every Thursday to our schedule. At the beginning of the second year, we decided to give up this rule. This does not necessarily mean that project interviews will go less often, sometimes, as for example this week, there will be more of them here. Today the charming Alexandra Babiy, vocalist of Kiev based metal band AZATHOTH CIRCLE, agreed to answer our questions.

Reflections of Darkness [RoD]: When did you get your first tattoo and what was it? Did it take much time until you decided to get it done?
Alexandra: I did the first tattoo already at a very mature age, after 20. Now I just cannot say at what time exactly it was, I think 22 to 25. I have always been a connoisseur of tattoo art, but I needed much time to choose my own tattoo. I wanted to do something that would remind me of the unchanging essence of things, and not just a picture in honour of a milestone in life.

tomijoutsen frankfurt 20170831Today I'm really proud to present you our interview with Tomi Joutsen - the voice of progressive metal legend AMORPHIS. I was really happy when I got the agreement from the band's management for this interview. On the day of their show at the club Batschkapp in Frankfurt, where we have meet, I was pretty nervous. But the first minutes after we have meet have blown away all my fears. It was a great and interesting half an hour with Tomi and now I am happy to share our meeting's results with you.

Reflections of Darkness [RoD]: For me personally tattoos are art, so what are the tattoos for you? Is it art? Is it any other way to remind you about some important things of your live?
Tomi: For me personally it is a subculture and also a form of art. Of course now, when it is getting really popular and you can see tattoos everywhere. But for me, when I was a kid, I saw tattoos mostly on those guys from prison or on sailors or on some Rock’n’Roll guys. I feel tattoos as a little bit rebellious thing. Of course it’s a very beautiful form of art and it’s developing all the time and there are a lot of artists around the world, great artists and also in Finland which is great. If you want to have really beautiful tattoo it’s possible to get it in Finland also. For me personally it’s a little bit as subculture. But if someone will get a tattoo it’s not a problem for me. Everybody can do what they want with their bodies.
