AnnenMayKantereit - “Live 2026” - Support: Dilla
‘Alles nix Konkretes’ (Everything’s Not Concrete): That was the title of the Cologne-based band ANNENMAYKANTEREIT’s first album in 2016. It couldn’t have been a better title. Because back then, there really wasn’t a career plan; the motto was more like: just do it, follow the vibe, see what happens. In 2026, ANNENMAYKANTEREIT are finally returning with a new tour: From July, the band will be playing concerts in Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, and Switzerland. New music is already available to hear and see: ‘Nur wir beide’ (Just the Two of Us).

With their debut album ‘Get Born,’ released in 2003, the Australian band JET effectively swept up every possible accolade thanks to global hits like ‘Are You Gonna Be My Girl,’ ‘Rollover DJ,’ and ‘Look What You’ve Done,’ becoming an international phenomenon that pushed Rock from Down Under back into the spotlight.

Berlin offered an almost overwhelming choice of concerts this weekend: DIE TOTEN HOSEN, THE CURE, SYSTEM OF A DOWN and DAVID GARRETT were all performing in the city. Remaining faithful to my electronic ideals, however, there was never much doubt about my destination. I took my new camera to its concert debut at the Waldbühne, where PET SHOP BOYS brought their long-running “Dreamworld - The Greatest Hits Live” tour back to Berlin.

One band who really piqued my interest last year, was Italian darkwave trio SOFT SCENT. Formed in 2023 and comprising of Anna Graves (vocals, keyboards and synths), Sara Rock (bass guitar and backing vocals) and Enrico (drums), their music is an exquisite fusion of Darkwave and Post-Punk. Their sound blends beautiful, moody synths with heavy, driving basslines. The staccato edginess of Anna’s vocals is reminiscent of German 80s outfit X-MAL DEUTSCHLAND.

There are artists who perform concerts, and then there are artists who create an atmosphere long before the first note is played. MORRISSEY undoubtedly belongs to the latter. Returning to Berlin as part of the Citadel Music Festival, the former THE SMITHS frontman transformed the historic Zitadelle Spandau into the perfect backdrop for an evening that celebrated both his remarkable legacy and his continued artistic evolution.

The fourth edition of the EASTSIDE Festival once again proved why it has become one of Germany’s most charming gatherings for fans of Synthpop, Dark Wave, Electro and EBM. Nestled beside the lake at the Karlsbad in Halle (Saale), the festival offered a relaxed atmosphere, a carefully selected line-up and plenty of opportunities to meet friends old and new.
