COLLAPSE UNDER THE EMPIRE was formed in 2007 by two German musicians Chris Burda and Martin Grimm. The beloved fact about the band is that the name of the band was chosen for the reason to use C.U.T.E. as an acronym. And even if it is actually not true, that makes nice sense. But what is more important that from the very beginning musical critics saw a big potential in the band, and C.U.T.E. was mentioned in several international music magazines. Since their foundation they released three albums and prepare the forth one. The main characteristic of C.U.T.E.’s music is cinematic. Critics as well as musicians themselves see this aspect as the most significant one in their creativity. “Working on this album we really dialled with pictures and emotions, which served the whole story. It’s like to compose a soundtrack for a film”, says Chris.
There will be two albums, united with the same concept. Although the second album will be out just next year, musicians can already share some details. Comparing to the upcoming ‘Sacrifice & Isolation’, which is going to be more orchestral, ‘Shoulders & Giants’, the first part, is rock and electronic. Difficult unwieldy melodies are full of euphoria, delusion and loneliness, so are the main story lines. The musicians manage to tell wonderful stories without any pictures or words. It’s all about instrumental tracks. Their music can recall some of your memories or draw completely new worlds in your mind, but the one thing will be always the same: the perfect soundtrack for this weird trip is created by COLLAPSE UNDER THE EMPIRE.
