Album Review

When Matt Brock decided to create his solo project, DICEPEOPLE, it looked like the key idea of a future where everything will be balanced, as a state of social equilibrium, was distilled in his mind. In order to delve more into these thoughts and to express them musically he drifted towards a dark aspect of Ambient, combined with electronic elements and synthesisers. But since that wasn’t enough he mixed real organs with various voices in order to create an element of nostalgia and the angst of a possible terror. The problem with this CD is exactly that; though you’re reminded of the terror, Brock fails to convince you of its nature, and to put it in terms of music this element is not translated into innovative approaches of his subject matter. Besides the Skynet and the androids of the Tyrell Corporation there isn’t anything else? On all other fronts, mainly the aspects of the aforementioned equilibrium DICEPEOPLE doesn’t fail to deliver what is expected from it - enjoyable and danceable dark electro.
