Album Review

After seven years of absence, STROMKERN are back with a brand new EP that paves the way for the new LP that will be released soon. What you get is what you might expect considering the past work of the band. In other words a mixture of Hip-Hop with Future Pop (mostly) soundscapes and an I-don’t-give-a-shit attitude which can turn its sting against its potential targets. ‘Dead Letters’ though don’t work as they were supposed to do or as the band might have intended them to. Except the ‘Ruin(ed)’ where all the aforementioned elements are in complete resonance and the song is damn epic, the rest of the EP almost struggles to deliver its promises. Granted that ‘Intuit’ and ‘Sub-Librarian’ have their good moments yet they fail to evoke any reaction on the part of the listener. The situation is much better with ‘Symbols’ and ‘Catastrophe’ which are a safe guarantee that the band is going to return to the kingdom of coolness in which they rightly belong.
