Album Review

BLEED FROM WITHIN comprises of five metal brothers from Glasgow, who over the time had picked up a steady following and have shown their skills in ‘Humanity’ and ‘Empire’, soon to be followed with ‘Uprising’ coming out at the end of this month on Century Media. ‘Uprising’ is a truly ferocious album where the band seems to have honed its strengths to become a real good contender to reckon on with on the Metal scene. Considering that this island hasn’t know a true revolution one could only wish that BFW with this brutal energy and fervour fuelled by defiance could persuade the apathetic masses to finally rise away from cup of tea and porridge and show the French they could do it too.

There is a great feel of unity not just between the band but also between all the components and songs – the songwriting has really got tight and there’s a plenty to keep an interest, that is to say it’s not a droning collection of same-sounding songs. The melodic tendency holds music in a great perspective as it splinters into many layers, and altogether it all displays a wonderful layered complexity with thought-provoking lyrics. The vocal approach is diverse and more interesting than how it is with many of their peers. You’ll also find some beautiful moments such as in ‘Speechless’ and contrasted throughout in the interludes or intros. Intense album that shouldn’t be missed out on.
