EP Review

Well, well it's the first in a long time that I am listening to some new material of CODE 64 again ever since Henrik Piehl parted ways with the band back in 2006. He had a very unique voice and brought something special to the sound of CODE 64. So, now we're going to have a little look at the newest EP of the trio, titled 'Accelerate'. The radio edit kicks in with ambience tightly laced with a straight-forward beat. I disliked the way Borg sung in the past. Now I must say that I have come to terms with that. It fits the band's current sound, and the track isn't all bad either. Except for a changed metre, the collaboration between APOPTYGMA BERZERK and OK MINUS has nothing special to show for.

'SD Sequence' is the second new track on the disc and maintains a similar profile as the main track does, only that this one's completely instrumental. Has some good melodies encapsulated within. There's not much left of the original after Henrik Bäckström ran it through his machines other than a dance appeal. Even the vocals only appear as fragments. Many, many years back there was this project called U96 and they had a track called 'Love Sees No Colour'. CODE 64 remain up close to the original, that is, blowing the dust off of it. What am I supposed to say now. It's a solid EP. Sadly, that's all it is. Nothing that says to you “Whoa I will still remember this ten years from now”.
